PickYou is proud to present its first summer program: CampYou!!!
PickYou is a pro-active anti-bullying cam-paign. What that means is, we don’t want to wait until the mediation part of things to intervene when children are being victimized. Our goal is provide the youth in our community with engaging activities that not only build character, but self-worth and a sense of community.
This summer our community project is the “Salad Bar Garden” coming soon to the campus of Dr. Carter G. Woodson Elem-entary School. PickYou will jump start this project and we are excited to get started.
There are diff-erent levels of involvement. You and your family can figure out what best suits your schedule. We are offering the opportunity to work with us as your family’s schedule allows, or you can enroll your child as an official PickYou camper. Here’s how they differ.
Volunteer Campers
Anyone can be a volunteer camper. We won’t turn any-one away. There will be groups working at the garden every day, both morning and evening. Simply fill out the times that you, your fam-ily, or your child -ren will be able to volunteer.
Enrolled Campers
These campers will receive of-ficial CampYou gear, participate in gardening classes, go on field trips, do community service, and prepare and perform a show at the end of the summer for the community. There are only a limited number of en-rolled camper spots (20) and en-rollment will be on a first come first serve basis.
Summer Schedule
We will be active throughout the entire summer. A weekly voluntary schedule for working at the garden is as follows (beginning 6/19):

On camp days, campers will be responsible for packing and bringing a lunch. Afternoon activities will include field trips (Cylburn Arboretum, etc.), community service (People’s Garden, Senior center, etc.), Swimming or other activities, and preparation for the end of the summer performance. We will employ public transportation when going on field trips. If your child does not have a monthly/weekly pass, they will need money ($3.60 lightrail/$3.60 bus) to cover travel expenses.
Every other Saturday beginning on the 30th of June, PickYou will host a Community CleanUp Block Party. These events are also open to all. Trash bags and plastic gloves will be provided.
Enrolled Camper Mandatory Donations J
A mandatory donation of $120 is required for all enrolled campers. $60 is due with the campers application by the 9th of June. The second $60 must be donated by July 20th.
